Our Story
Ava Dee’s Bakery began in the summer of 2018 at the Owatonna Farmers Market, founded by owner and baker Ava McMains—who started her business at just 12 years old. Over the past eight years, Ava has grown her passion into a thriving bakery known for creating custom cakes and a variety of delicious baked goods.
Ava is a 2025 graduate of Hennepin Technical College, where she earned her degree in Baking and Pastry Entrepreneurship. She currently works full-time at Federated Insurance Company while continuing to fulfill bakery orders in her free time—bringing creativity and care to every treat she makes.
At Ava Dee’s Bakery, we specialize in custom orders for all occasions, including graduation parties, birthdays, family gatherings, weddings, and more. We also offer a selection of gluten-free and specialty items, such as French macarons, keto cupcakes, cookies, and other made-to-order treats.

Our Products
Ava Dee's Bakery does custom baking for all customers. We have gluten free options as well. Our most popular items are cakes for birthdays, special events, etc. We have done custom desserts for graduation party's such as bars and cookies, and weddings. We do pick-up and deliver only in Owatonna, we do not ship due to cottage food licensing rules and regulations.
